Assistant Principal

Hello! My name is Erika Thompson, and I am honored to join the Friedberg Elementary family as your new Assistant Principal!

My journey in education began in 2015 as a classroom teacher at Churchland Elementary, where I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades before transitioning into the role of Media Coordinator. Last year, I had the privilege of serving as the Assistant Principal for both Denton Elementary and Southmont Elementary Schools.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Catawba College and my first Master's degree in Library and Information Science from UNC Greensboro. Most recently, I completed my Master’s in School Administration through UNC Greensboro as part of the PPEERS program.

As a proud Davidson County Schools graduate, it is especially meaningful to return and serve the district that helped shape who I am. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support I received as a student, and I am excited to give back to the community that invested so much in me.

What drives me every day is building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. I truly believe that when students feel valued, supported, and connected, amazing things happen.
