Meet the counselor:  Hi!  My name is Amy Hutto and this is my second year here at Friedberg Elementary as the school counselor but I have 29 years of experience in education. Previously, I was a counselor in Surry County where I worked predominately at the elementary level (11 years). I also served students K-8 for the online magnet program and worked at the high school level for two years. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I was a kindergarten teacher in North Carolina & Florida.  

What you can expect:  School counselors help students succeed in three major areas: academics, social/emotional, and career. I will be teaching students monthly lessons that focus on these areas as well as character education. I am also available for talking with students individually and in small groups.  

How your child can see Ms. Hutto:  Oh, there are so many ways that your child can gain access to me!! You (the parent/guardian) can let your child's teacher know you would like me to see them or you can send me an email or call me. Student's can also tell their teacher or myself that they would like to see me.  Also, student's can email me or fill out the referral slips that are located on my office door.
